A family passion
Andante Piano’s journey began in the summer of 2018 when Ron Adelaar, a dedicated pianist from Amersfoort, Netherlands, shared a recording with his son Ivo. While Ron viewed music as a personal hobby, Ivo, experienced in the music industry, recognized its potential and jokingly suggested making Ron an artist. This led to unexpected success, with Ron’s music quickly gaining a larger audience as both father and son actively worked on new release strategies and promotional campaigns. Ivo, noticing the stress and distraction caused by the fast pace of modern life, founded Disruptive Records in early 2020 to focus on calming instrumental music that promotes mindfulness and presence.
In October 2020, Andante Piano was launched, named after Ron’s breakthrough piece, and focusing on neoclassical piano music that aligned with Ivo’s vision of promoting tranquility. Ron became the label’s first artist, and his music rapidly gained popularity, reaching 1,000,000 monthly listeners by the end of 2022. What began as a simple idea between father and son has grown into a thriving label with over 100 pianists worldwide. Ron, who left his HR career to pursue music full-time, now enjoys a successful partnership with Ivo, making Andante Piano a prominent name in neoclassical piano music.
